A vintage two volume set of French reference books, Nouveau Dictionaire de la Vie Pratique, published by Librairie Hachette in 1923. Both cover varied topics relating to daily life, ranging from anatomy, tree grafting and pruning, crochet and knot tying, to prosthetics, jiu-jitsu and marble identification. The set is hardbound in green woven fabric with debossed details signifying arts, medicine, sports, law and gardening. Brown leather spines have the same impressed imagery, both spines and covers have gilded details. Volume one comprises A to G, two covers H to Z. Numerous illustrations in both, including a few full page color plates. The liner has very attractive multi-colored marbling.
Condition: Generally good near-antique condition. Significant color fading on the covers, particularly volume 2. Typical wear on the leather spines and some fraying on the corners. Some foxing throughout.
