circa: Early 1900's
A pair of gilded wooden frames with botanical prints of roses and white camellia from the paintings of Pierre Joseph Redoute (1759-1840), famous Belgian painter and botanist.
The soft pink roses are profuse with luscious petals, a bud and early bloom are visible just behind the two full blooms. A single white camellia is elegantly framed by its broad, green leaves. Both prints have very fine details and printed names in lovely script at the bottom. Thin, simple gilt wood frames enclose the images.
Condition: Very good. Some foxing on paper.
Gilt wear on the frames, as well as a dent on the bottom portion of the camellia frame.
