An attractive Louis XVI style marble mantel clock with hand painted face from Daurelle in the Ardeche region, early 1900s. Peach colored marble in a variety of tones is rife with rich black veining. The tambour shaped clock has a plinth base with a thin top level; the raised, arched movement housing is flanked by two sloping shoulder pieces. Brass garland ornamentation is attached beneath the face, and brass floral decorations adorn the side pieces. The white face is hand painted with fanciful black numbers, as well as colorful little floral swags that drape beneath and between each number. It has a decorative pierced brass case at the back and beaded spindle-style brass feet. The glass face cover is convex and has a highly embellished brass rim. The clock has an 8 day movement and comes with its key.
