An attractive antique wood and metal grain measure from the Beaujolais region of France, circa 1900. A single curled strip of wood is coiled into a barrel shape, hemmed in by another wood band and bottom at the base and reinforced by thin silver metal strips. The hand-hammered metal is secured by tiny rivets. A tubular T-bar handle is affixed in the middle of the bucket and connects through the base, tying all pieces together. Makes a nice storage piece or paper waste bin.
Condition: Good rustic antique condition. Some age wear on the wood with a couple small losses, shallow scratches and two old repairs. Appropriate discoloration and wear spots on the metal banding.
