A 19th. Century French Marble Mortar with a wooden pestle. The marble is a warm beige with ocher banding and sporadic deposits of fine black spots. Four round handles are positioned at the top of the mortar, one of which has a convenient pour spout carved into it. Well worn chips at the edges and on the pedestal base indicate age and use. The wooden pestle has a bell shaped head and simple baluster shaped handle.
Condition: Very good. Few age spots on marble.
