circa: Early 1900s
A large walnut jardiniere in Louis XIII style with removable bin and beechwood legs, circa 1910. Geometrical carving on the walnut top and beechwood baluster legs. Diamond details decorate inset panels on the front and sides, plain panel on the back. Molded trim runs along the top and bottom. Four handsomely turned baluster legs are joined by two short stretchers on either end and one long stretcher connecting them. A removable pine tub with zinc liner sits inside the jardiniere. It can be used as a planter or cooler, but has no drain holes. The piece would also make an interesting console with storage.
Condition: Good antique condition. Natural wear from age and use including a couple of age cracks on the molding and some treated worm holes. A later fill on an old knot at front left. Some age on zinc.
