A lovely wicker jardiniere plant stand painted black with a shelf at the bottom, French circa 1940s. The square basket taperes a bit at the bottom and is made of tightly bound thin wicker, fully trimmed in one inch wide wicker plaiting. Four legs with wicker wrapping continue the subtle taper and flare out at the feet, which are trimmed in thin brass sheets. Little bulges just above the feet further embellish the legs. A single square shelf sits near the bottom, matching the basket with its tight wicker weave and plaited trim. The jardiniere was purchased in the Bresse region of France and can fit a 12" plant.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Some wear on wicker, including some loss on one leg. A little damage to the brass trim on two feet.
