circa: 20th Century
A decorative French jardiniere made of hammered and embossed brass from the Bresse Region. Two wide bands of repousse gadrooning make the piece instantly striking, one around the bulged base, the other near the top. The belly between the gadrooned bands is embossed with decorative cresents, beads and bell motif. A simple banded rim is joined to a simple hinged brass handle. Sizable enough for a planter or waste bin.
Condition: Very good. Some discoloration on brass.
