A rare French stove made by Sougland foundry in the Aisne region. This is the "Eureka"model number 81 made of cast iron in the Art Nouveau style and dating from the early 1900s. The sides and back feature decorative enamel panels with painted motifs of birds and flowers. It can be front or top loaded, and the bottom grate can be “agitated” to remove ash by means of the circular lever that you can see on the right hand side of the door. The lower door opens and the ash pan can be removed. On the front of the lower door is a central round control for regulating airflow. The door has a simple latch mechanism operated by a siver metal key. The stove is in working condition and either coal/coke or wood can be used.
Condition: Good. In working condition. Some rust and age appropriate wear.
