circa: Early 1900s
An elegant Art Nouveau desk lamp with signed art glass shade by Daum, circa 1900. The iron stand has a molded base and an arched and beaded finial. A curved brass arm can be adjusted to chosen height with a stylized fleur de lis handle. The fixture has its original porcelain knob and socket. A gorgeous flared square shaped art glass shade punctuates the piece. Colored glass was crushed and packing into a refractory mold, then kiln fired to create a dappled look. The glass fades from deep blue at the top to lightly colored frosted glass at the bottom, with hits of chartreuse throughout. Signed by Daum from the studio based in Nancy, France.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Typical age discoloration on the metals. Two dents in the molded base. Few chips at top edge of glass. Newly rewired.
