circa: Early 1900s
A large industrial antique cast iron and brass book press, French circa 1900. Sturdy iron build with lightly molded square base, two stout posts joined by a thick lintel, and iron press plate connected to the manual screw controlled by wide handles. The iron has a wonderful patina throughout. Both handles are large brass balls, with brass fixtures around the screw and at the plate. Two holes on the base for table mounting. It's a beautiful, functioning piece. The maximum size that can be pressed is 10.5" by 11.25", approximately 2.75" thick.
Condition: Very good antique condition with light variation in color and a few minor rust spots, some small dings on the brass handles.
