A comely vintage silver plate ice bucket with lid by French maker Saglier Freres, circa 1940. Merging Art Deco style and Louis XVI motif, the bucket is tastefully adorned with light molding along the top rim and tapered base, and subtle crossed ribbon decoration at wide intervals. The curved and ribbed handles set near the top have the same ribbon motif and are attached with lovely acanthus leaves. A removable top gently slopes up towards the opening that cradles a wine or champagne bottle. Impressed marks on underside for Saglier Freres and 25. Height without lid is 7.5".
Condition: Good vintage condition. Minor superficial scratches on the outside. Light tarnishing in places, inside bottom and a little on the foot. A partial dent on the foot, not very noticeable.
