A brass umbrella holder in the Louis XVI style, circa 1900. Tall and urn shaped, it is as attractive as it is functional. The main cylindrical body is fluted all the way around, terminating in a horizontal band at either end. From this lower band sprouts a gently molded curve, graced by a single ring of repousse beading. The base is tastefully molded. A scalloped rim projects perpendicularly from the top, with stylized palm decoration in relief. The body has two hefty brass ring handles in the form of wreaths. Understated, but not unimaginative, this piece will make a great addition to your doorway.
Condition: Slight color variation in spots, light verdigris in a few places. Some little nicks and dings throughout, consistent with age and use.
