circa: 19th century
origin: Rhone Region
A shapely copper bucket with iron handle from the Rhone region, 19th century. The broad, round shoulder sits high, just below a curled under rim. Beneath the shoulder the form cinches in and goes straight down, where it cuts back and sits over a flared, lightly molded base. Two shaped copper pieces are riveted into the sides and hold the forged iron handle. Brass brazing is subtly visible on the sides of the bucket. The piece has a wonderful surface, with the light wear and marks that come from over one hundred years of use.
Condition: Very good. Some light tarnishing and wear, typical for its age and use.
