circa: 19th century
A 19th Century glazed terracotta water cruche with three handles and a spout, from the Ardeche Region of France. Classic form with round shoulders and a tapered base, three ample handles around the wide mouthed top for ease of carrying and pouring, and a spout. The rust-red colored glaze is glossy and has variation of tone in spots, giving the piece a rustic feel. The bare base shows that the glaze was hand dipped. It will make a fabulous vase, display or storage piece.
Condition: Very good. Appropriate age marks on glazing.
