A lovely pair of framed vintage ornithological prints of the original lithographs of illustrator Elizabeth Gould and husband naturalist John Gould. Toned paper full color prints matted in camel colored textured board set inside simple rounded gilt wood frames. John Gould was a nineteenth century ornithologist who worked with artists, here Elizabeth Gould and Henry Richter, to create detailed color lithos of the birds he collected. Both prints represent South American birds, the first being the colorful Collared Trogon, the second the Buffy Hummingbird. Both sexes are depicted with both sets perched on native plant species. Scientific names, artists and publishers are printed at the bottom. Simple wire hangers at the back.
Condition: Good vintage condition with some wear on the frames. Slight paper warping and tiny foxing spots on the Trogon print. Glass has been replaced.
