circa: Late 1800s
An attractive and functional revolving cherrywood English bookshelf in the Empire style, from the late 19th century. The square frame will hold books on all sides and has adjustable dividers at the center bottom that can be raised or lowered depending on the size of your volumes. The top shelf has 13.75" of clearance, the bottom 11.75". Four slats on the right half of each side secure the books behind them. Molded edges on the top and bottom are embellished with brass trim, as are the sides of the wooden slats. The base is mahogany and has four diminutive metal roller feet. A single brass knob on one lower side can be adjusted to stop the rotating function.
Condition: Some staining on the shelf surfaces and visible scratches on the top. One corner at top has been restored.
