circa: Late 1800s
A fabulous Louis XV style Rococo gilded bronze ten light chandelier, France circa late 1800s. The elaborate central shaft features naturalistic acanthus decoration, stylized shells, and scalloped edging. Elegantly curved arms undulate from the center, each with textured, scalloped fins and the same natural acanthus detail. The faux candle lights are supported by dishes that are alternately pierced and solid with foliate decoration. A large disk covers the junction of arms, complete with textured scrollwork, shells and gadrooning, ending in a pointed finial. The piece retains its original canopy with pierced acanthus decoration. An 30.5" adjustable length chain finishes out the chandelier.
Condition: Great antique condition with minor aging on the painted bronze. Re-gilded in small areas. Rewired for US standards. Recommended maximum of 25 watt bulbs.
