An elaborate Italian Carrara marble topped painted chest of drawers in the Louis XVI style, mid-century circa 1940s. A lacquer painted oak base in cream with ornate aged brass ornamentation, capped with a beautifully veined white Carrara marble top. Three generous drawers at the front, canted edges and curved sides, perched on tapered fluted feet. Extensive brass trim with water leaf motif around each plane, indented corners on the two large drawers embellished by rosettes. Wreath drop ring pulls rest on beaded round plaques. Two ribbon topped key escutcheons, a large gadrooned swag plaque at the apron, square acanthus medallions at all four corners, brass trim and sabots on all legs make this a stand-out piece.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Paint wear on drawer fronts and some corners, wood chip missing below marble on right corner- has paint touch up. Age cracks on the sides. Some marble chips at edges, particularly at back.Discoloration on brass. No key for drawers.
