circa: Early 1900s
A smart Louis XVI style mahogany nighstand bedside cabinet with Carrara marble top, circa 1920. This attractive piece will also make a wonderful end table, with the three drawers for storage and a lower shelf. The cabinet body has squared corners with gilded fluting and solid sides. The three drawers have diminutive brass pulls as well as brass trim at their edges. Each drawer is 11" wide, 7.5" long and 1.5" deep. Turned legs feature the same gilded fluting as the cabinet corners, and have tapered feet capped with brass sabots. A lower shelf connects to the legs with square joins, its edges are beveled and gilt. The beautifully veined Carrara marble top has a pierced brass gallery.
Condition: Some water spots and superficial scratches on the marble top. Some color variations on the brass, typical for its age and use. Minor scratches on lower shelf.
