circa: Early 1900s
An ornate antique industrial console table made of an iron sewing treadle base and oak top, France circa 1900. The heavily decorated black iron base has Art Nouveau elements with sinuous cuves and elaborate scrolling. Raised beaded texture embellishes the full frame and encircles a large center vignette featuring two rampant lions flanking a set of castle gates. The initials SC appear inside the gate, perhaps for Singer Sewing Company. The oak top is made of many panels and has rounded corners as well as molded edges, and is mounted to the base. The top may be an old replacement. Would make a great console or small desk.
Condition: Good antique condition. The original foot rest has been removed. Some surface wear on the oak top (marks, scratches) and age separation between some planks.
