An ornate Art Deco marble and painted iron coffee table attributed to Gilbert Poillerat, French circa 1940. The iron base is curule shaped and painted in cream, with two twisted iron stretchers and twisted hanging rings at each corner, all painted gold. A twisted rope motif trimming the top, round balls below that, and gadrooned bun feet are also painted in gold. The complementing marble top is a sea of light brown with cream and white, as well as little hits of coral-red clusters and thin veins all over. The marble is removable from the base.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Paint chips and loss to various surfaces, particularly edge pieces and feet, and along the top where the marble is removed and put back. Some scratches on the marble surface, easily lost in the veining, and some chips along the edges, all typical for its age and use.
