A wonderful walnut and marble fabric scale, French circa 1900. The walnut base has gilt trim on its faces and sides, and canted corners with mahogany veneer for accent. A lightly veined white marble top projects slightly over the base and echoes the canted corners. Simple walnut trim at the bottom. Square brass plateau with raised sides are seated in brass frames. Brass levelers on both faces can measure up to 30 kilos and are marked with a small crescent moon and star. The scale can be disassembled. Great functioning accent piece.
Condition: Good antique condition. Glass cover is missing from leveler on one side. Marble has a couple of shallow edge nicks, light wear on walnut including a little restoration and age crack on base, small tarnish spots on brass, all typical for its age and use.
