A French counter scale in warm walnut and brass, circa 1880s. The scale is made of walnut wood, each side has a simple thin inlaid square of lighter toned wood. Either side has a glass front dial with a decorative brass ring. The two plateaux are brass. Very clean lines and beautiful patinas on both wood and brass. The piece hails from the Usine de la Mulatiere, near Lyon.
Condition: Very good. Minor age appropriate wear on wood and discoloration on brass.
