circa: Late 1800's
A Napoleon III period carved and distressed gilt wood frame, French from the late 1800s. Highly embellished with carved detailing, including a beaded inner rim and rippled rope along the outside. Each corner is profuse with carved floral swags and a charming apple at its center. The finish is heavily distressed with worn white wash over gilding, giving way to the underlying red ocher. The frame wears its imperfections well, it has a lot of character and interest. The glass is new.
Condition: New glass. Frame is very distressed with worn paint and chips, as well as sizable areas of missing woodwork, shown in photos.
