circa: Early 1900s
A handsome Louis XVI style marble topped chest of drawers with distressed ceruse paint, French circa 1900. Pine base and white marble top. Four long drawers, each with ribbed detail at top and bottom, are seated between fluted corners and paneled sides. A plinth base is perched over squat spindle feet at the front and post feet at the back. The molded edge top houses a white marble slab with spare, attractive gray veining. Round wooden knobs for the drawers, working locks with a single key for all. The multi-toned distressed ceruse paint has ecru with gray-blue touches, and a dark brown in recesses and in light crackle finish on the drawer fronts. Drawers are 39.5" wide, 16" long and 5.5" deep.
Condition: Great antique condition. Heavily distressed paint with small losses at feet and on side. Some superficial scratches on the marble surface and dings along the edges.
