A stately Restoration period cabinet or nightstand in walnut, early 1800s. With a slim profile and geometric simplicity of form, this little piece will fit in beautifully with a variety of styles. A plinth base glides on four metal casters. Flat sides and unembellished top let the grain pattern, patina and tone take center stage. A pair of subtle, curved supports rise on either side like shoulders and come to a rest below a single drawer with a diminutive brass pull. The drawer's interior measures 9.5" wide, 10.5" long and 2.75" deep. The body of the cabinet opens with a single door to a fixed shelf, 10.25" on the top and 10" underneath, with a 13.75" interior width and 9.5" door opening. The brass knob is marquise shape and turns to control a simple lock mechanism. Original hardware.
Condition: A few burn marks on the top and two very light stains. A couple of age cracks on sides and an old fill on the right side. Minor wood loss next to pull.
