Louis XVI Style Provencal Rush Seat Armchair <p>A Louis XVI style beechwood and rush armchair, circa 1940s.  In  typical Proven&ccedil;al style, the armrests are set back on the seat and  the  back is fairly open, with simply shaped slats. Curved armrests sit  on  turned and fluted supports. Scalloped apron features relief carved   foliate garlands and a large central flower, as well as carved scrolls   along the edge. Rosettes grace the die joints, which sit on turned and   fluted legs. The stretchers are also turned, with the front stretcher   being fluted in addition. All legs sit on baluster feet and the backs   are capped with acorn shaped finials. A cushion is available.</p>
<p>The rush seat is low, being 14" from the ground and topped with a  2"  cushion and are in great condition. The custom fitted cushion is a   large plaid in coral, red and ocher tones, offset by blue and green.   Coral-red piping traces the profile on top and bottom, zipper located on   the underside.</p>

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Two shallow scratches on the ladder back slats and some nicks on the outer corners of the die joints, worn fairly smooth with age.
