circa: Early 1900s
An ornate upholstered Spanish savonarola bench in carved walnut, circa 1920. Walnut base with original velvet upholstery over spring seat. The base has an elongated savonarola X-form shape with carved ribbing around the bottom of the seat and along all the legs. Carved water leaf motif is present at the tops of the legs, at the junctions where the legs meet to form the X, capping the feet, and at the center of the baluster style turned stretcher. Original dark teal upholstery in burnout velvet has repeating stylized florets inside of diamonds, remeniscent of Moorish tile motif. Antique nailhead trim and sturdy spring construction with jute webbing. Appears to have been barely used.
*Matching ottoman is available
Condition: Good vintage condition. One leg has a restoration. Light wear around the feet, very light wear on the original upholstery.
