A vintage French beechwood armchair in the Directoire Style, circa 1940. Simplified construction reminiscent of the Directoire era, with gently a curved back and armrests, ladder back style with only two waved slats, straight front legs and spindle finials atop the back. Subtle embellishments include an incised line around the front legs and chamfered, incised edges on the frame at back. The seat front bows out slightly in the front. Natural light toned beechwood is contrasted by a rich, forest green velvet upholstered seat, complete with antique nail head trim. Seat height is 16", depth is 20.5".
Condition: Good vintage condition. One repaired crack on the right arm. A few dents here and there, typical for its age and use.
