An elegantly hand painted slightly rustic pine bench, Dutch circa early 1900s. The long bench has a straight back and subtly scrolled sides, all with open panels containing black painted spindles. Slight saber curve to the thick legs. It is painted all over in a distressed light gray with a great crackle finish. Wonderful hand painted decorations in black and brown tones grace the back rest, leg fronts and apron. A large urn adorns the center of the back rest, with scrolling arabesque and floral motif spreading out on both sides. The apron has a rosette at its center with acanthus-type foliate detail flanking. And the legs have the same rosette and foliate painting in hanging swag form. Relaxed style with elegant charm. Floor to seat: 18.5"
Condition: Good antique condition. Wear around the feet and some wear on heavily touched parts of the distressed painting. Some paint loss.
