A lively pair of Louis XIV Style painted and upholstered ottomans or stools, circa 1900. Heavy beechwood bases feature curved and fluted legs with broadly scrolled feet, connected by undulating H-stretchers with matching motif. The bases are painted in an eggshell or ivory color and distressed. Little nicks and losses of paint contribute to the complexion of the pieces. Vintage striped velvet fabric in raspberry and mulberry contrasts beautifully with the slight green undertones of the painted legs. Antique nailhead trim secures the tucked corners of the fabric to the base. Sturdy and comfortable, these pieces work wonderfully as both stools and ottomans.
Condition: Good condition with distressed paint and minimal wear to the upholstery. The pieces are not identical in size, but very close (smaller ottoman is 19"in depth).
