An Art Nouveau period piece with a sculpted silver plate base in fantasy motif and ruffled art glass vase, Germany circa 1910. The elaborate silver plate stand features a cherub perched on a heavily scrolled horn of plenty, reaching for a large butterfly. This horn of plenty is joined to a scrolled, raised base by an old-world dolphin. Rising up from the horn is a hand-blown glass vase in a pale green hue, with delicately ruffled edges and a diagonal stretch of applied glass with shell decoration. The underside is marked WMFB for Wurtemberg Metalware Factory in Germany, and numbered 98.
Condition: Very good antique condition with no visible chips or cracks on the glass, just a small spot with shallow scratches. Some age appropriate metal wear and some resin build up at the base of the glass. Vase is not watertight, better for decoration or artificial flowers.
