circa: Early 1900s
A rustic French wicker basket, circa early 1900s. Hand-carved wooden post construction with woven wicker strips wrapped around flat wooden slats. The frame is held together with old fashioned wooden peg joinery reinforced by old penny nails. Wide wooden slats provide the structure inside the frame, with strips of wicker woven in and out around them. Each of the four corner posts has a beveled square finial and tapered legs that raise the basket by about 1.5". Very charming display piece.
Condition: Good antique condition with age appropriate wear and discoloration, as well as some losses. Fragile bottom. Some wear on wood.
