This Renaissance style Corner Chair dates from the late 1800's during the Renaissance Style Revival, also called Neo-Gothic, of the French furnirture makers. These types of Chairs were designed to be placed in a bedroom corner. They are also called "Siege d'Apparat", meaning that they were used more for decor than function. It is made of golden oak with intricate carvings and motifs. There is a cherub face motif on the top rail and carved birds on the back. The frame has water leaves, foliage and rinceaux decorations. The legs are spindled. The fabric on the seat is not original to the piece.
